Chris Poynter

Chris Poynter is President of the System Drives division in the Motion business area since 2017. Having joined ABB in 1980 his professional experience extends from Service leadership, operations management and business development to broad range of leadership positions in ABB’s Automation, Drives and Power Conversion businesses. He has also run a successful Management Consulting business outside of ABB during 2001-2008. Rejoining ABB in 2008 as Senior Vice President for the Discrete Automation business. During his career, Mr. Poynter has been based in Canada, Australia, and Switzerland. Mr. Poynter holds a degree in Electrical Technology from British Columbia Institute of Technology, Canada and an Executive MBA from Queens University, Canada. He is born in 1955 and is Canadian citizen.
